Agentic Coding
Lead · The Agent Goes Wholesale
On June 1, OpenAI frontier models GPT-5.5 and GPT-5.4 — and the Codex coding agent — became generally available on AWS via Amazon Bedrock, the first non-Microsoft cloud to carry OpenAIs latest models. Codex is now used by more than 5 million people every week, up from 4 million at Aprils preview launch, and is reachable through six surfaces: CLI, IDE extensions, Codex Cloud, the ChatGPT sidebar, mobile, and a Chrome extension. The agent that began as a developer tool is now being distributed like cloud infrastructure — wholesale, through the platforms enterprises already run on.

Financing & Deals
Lead · The Megamerger Meets the States
California Attorney General Rob Bonta has planted a flag on Paramount Skydances $111 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, saying the merger is "not a done deal" and confirming the state DOJ has an open investigation it intends to pursue vigorously. Hollywood figures including Mark Ruffalo and Alex Gibney met with Bonta urging intervention, in a meeting organized by Norm Eisens Democracy Defenders Fund — whose opposition letter drew more than 1,000 signatures from actors, writers and directors. Bonta says outcomes could range from behavioral remedies backed by structural ones to a block. Shareholders approved in April; the fight has moved to the states.

Lead · A Building Whose Artwork Is the Sky
James Turrells largest-ever Skyspace, "As Seen Below," opens to the public June 19 at the ARoS Aarhus Art Museum in Denmark — a 40-meter-wide domed extension whose 16-meter-tall chamber frames the open sky through a central aperture while Turrell-designed lighting washes the room in slowly shifting monochromatic color, changing how the sky itself reads to the eye. The artist who spent half a century making light a material now has his biggest room ever to do it in. The what-if: build a building whose only artwork is the sky — and film what happens to the people standing inside it.
