CNBC reports that Microsoft and Google are now directly challenging Anthropic and OpenAI in AI coding models — the segment where Anthropic surged ahead largely on the strength of Claude Code. The report lands the same week as Microsoft Build, where Redmond pushed a full agentic stack of its own, and weeks after Google rebuilt its developer tiers around Gemini. The two largest platform companies in the world are no longer content to resell the leaders models; they want the coding agent itself. The fight that defined startups in 2025 is now a four-way war between the biggest companies in tech.
Netflix has halted pre-production on Antoine Fuquas untitled epic about the Carthaginian general Hannibal, starring Denzel Washington, so producers and the studio can figure out the budget. The film — written by John Logan — was to be based at Romes Cinecitta Studios, with pre-production and location scouting already underway in Italy ahead of a planned summer shoot. One of the biggest star-director packages on the streamers slate is now waiting on a number. Even at the top of the market, the budget is the greenlight.
British wingsuit pilot Tim Howell was days from his third attempt at the worlds highest wingsuit jump — launching from a ridge at roughly 8,100 meters on Lhotse, above the 7,700-meter record set by Valery Rozov on Cho Oyu — when an asp viper bit his finger in the brush. Allergic to the venom, Howell spent five days in the ICU and would likely have died had he not reached a hospital; the record attempt is on hold. He has more than 1,200 jumps and tried Lhotse in 2024 and 2025. The what-if: follow the man who keeps returning to the death zone to fly off it — a story where the mountain is not the most dangerous thing on the approach.
